Managing arthritis requires a comprehensive approach that includes movement, strength-building, and pain management strategies. Our arthritis care programmes are designed to help individuals maintain mobility, reduce discomfort, and improve their quality of life through tailored exercise therapy.
Staying active is essential for managing arthritis, as the right types of movement can alleviate pain, enhance flexibility, and strengthen the muscles surrounding affected joints. A well-structured arthritis exercise programme can provide many benefits.
We understand the challenges that come with arthritis.
Our arthritis therapy sessions focus on helping you move comfortably and confidently, minimising pain whilst maximising function. With a personalised approach,
our Allied Health Team supports you every step of the
way in managing your arthritis through exercise.
Regular movement keeps joints lubricated and functional.
Building muscle around joints helps improve stability and function.
Stretching and controlled movements promote better range of motion.
Exercise is beneficial for mental health, reducing stress, and improving mood.
Activities such as swimming, cycling, and walking help improve cardiovascular health without putting excessive strain on the joints.
Light resistance exercises using resistance bands, light weights, or bodyweight help build muscle to support and stabilise arthritic joints.
Gentle stretching enhances joint function and reduces stiffness whilst Yoga and Pilates can improve posture, balance, and overall mobility.
Water-based exercises provide support and reduce joint impact, making movement easier and less painful.
Exercises like standing on one leg, step-ups, and agility drills help prevent falls and improve stability.
It is a common concern, but the right kind of exercise is an effective way to manage arthritis. Our Exercise Physiologists design joint-friendly programmes that strengthen the muscles surrounding your joints. By building this support system, we reduce the physical load on the joint itself, which supports reduced discomfort and improved function over time.
Hydrotherapy is a highly regarded tool for arthritis care. The warmth of the water helps soothe aching joints and increase blood flow, while the buoyancy supports your body weight. This allows you to move your joints through a full range of motion with significantly less impact than you would experience on land.
Yes. While the conditions are different, both benefit from professional movement. For Osteoarthritis, we focus on strengthening and joint loading. For Rheumatoid Arthritis (an autoimmune condition), we focus on managing inflammation, maintaining flexibility, and utilising pacing strategies to help you stay active without triggering a flare-up.
You can book a session as a private participant at any time. However, many participants visit us via a GP Management Plan (CDMP). We also work with NDIS, DVA, and all major private health funds.
Our Exercise Physiologists are university-qualified to monitor your activity levels. We teach you how to distinguish between healthy muscle challenge and joint discomfort. We utilise the “24-hour rule”—if your discomfort levels have not returned to baseline within 24 hours of a session, we adjust the intensity of your next visit to support sustainable progress.
In many cases, a dedicated strengthening programme can improve joint stability and function to the point where surgery may be delayed. If surgery is required, participating in a “Pre-hab” programme with us helps your body remain as strong as possible, which supports your recovery time post-operation.
We recommend visiting our clinics. Our facilities provide access to dedicated clinical resistance equipment utilised for building the muscle strength needed to protect arthritic joints. Additionally, our on-site Hydrotherapy pools offer a level of mobility training that is difficult to replicate in a home environment.
Whether you’re dealing with pain, mobility issues, falls, or recovery, let us take the guesswork out. One of our experts will match you with the right service — at the right location and with the right funding — in under 10 minutes.
