Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about the eligibility check and hydrotherapy sessions at Healthstin.
1. How is a Healthstin gym session different from a regular gym?
A free initial hydrotherapy session may be available for eligible NDIS, Home Care Package (HCP), and Workers’ Compensation participants. Eligibility, session availability, and suitability will be confirmed by the Healthstin team prior to booking. The free session is not available to private-paying clients.
2. Do I need to be a member of the local leisure centre to use your gym?
No. Healthstin clinics are located within community hubs and aquatic centres (such as the Brimbank Aquatic and Wellness Centre or Playford Aquadome), but you do not require a separate membership to access our services. Clients have access to gyms during scheduled sessions with Healthstin.
3. Is the gym accessible for people with mobility aids or wheelchairs?
Accessibility is a core component of our service. Our gym spaces feature adaptive equipment, wide clearances for wheelchairs and walkers, and inclusive strength machines. Our staff are trained to assist participants with diverse physical abilities to utilise the equipment safely.
4. Can I use my NDIS or My Aged Care funding for gym sessions?
Most participants utilise their NDIS funding (under Improved Health and Wellbeing or Improved Daily Living) or Home Care Packages (HCP/CHSP) to cover gym-based therapy. We also accept DVA, WorkCover, and private health insurance.
5. What should I wear or bring to my first session?
We recommend comfortable, breathable clothing and closed-toe supportive shoes (like runners). Please bring a water bottle and a small towel. If you have clinical documentation or a referral from your GP, please bring those to your initial assessment.
6. Will I be training alone or with a group?
We offer both. You may choose One-on-One sessions for individualised attention or join our Small Group Classes. Our groups are kept small to allow clinicians to individualise exercises for every participant, providing a social and supervised experience.
7. I haven't exercised in years. Is it safe for me to start?
Every new participant begins with a comprehensive Initial Assessment. We review your clinical history, current physical capacity, and personal goals before creating a progressive plan. Our clinicians monitor your technique and adjust intensity as your confidence grows.
