What is Exercise Physiology?

Exercise Physiology is the study of how the body responds to physical activity and exercise. It focuses on understanding the physiological mechanisms behind exercise, including how the body’s systems – like the cardiovascular, respiratory, muscular, and nervous systems – function, adapt, and improve in response to different types of physical activity.

Exercise Physiologists hold the highest qualification to design and deliver exercise programs. At Healthstin, our Exercise Physiologists have the experience and knowledge to assess your overall fitness, movement capacity, health, and wellness status and identify lifestyle and behaviour changes to help you achieve your goals.

How long does each Physiotherapy session last?

A typical Physiotherapy session usually lasts between 30 to 60 minutes, depending on the type of treatment, the complexity of the condition, and the client’s needs and goals.

The initial assessment takes anywhere between 45-60 minutes while follow-up sessions are from 30-45 minutes.

The frequency of Physiotherapy sessions depends on several factors, including the nature and severity of your condition, your treatment goals, and your response to therapy:

  • Acute Injuries or Post-Surgery (2-3 times a week initially)

For footwear, wear supportive and comfortable sneakers or athletic shoes.

Choose clothing that allows easy access to the specific area being treated:

This includes evaluating the severity of your symptoms, your medical history, and your personal goals for therapy.

Generally, for some acute injuries, you might need around 6 to 12 sessions, but chronic conditions or post-surgical rehabilitation could require more. We’ll develop a personalised treatment plan for you and adjust it as needed based on your progress. Your active participation, especially with home exercises, can also impact the duration of therapy.
